Ingredients
Yield: 4 servings
Main
- 1 lb ground beef
- 8 oz spaghetti or linguine
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece fresh ginger, grated (optional)
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp cold water (slurry)
- 2 green onions, sliced, for garnish
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
Preparation
Step 1
Cook spaghetti according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
Step 2
While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain any excess fat.
Step 3
Add minced garlic and grated ginger (if using) to the skillet with the beef. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Step 4
In a small bowl, whisk together beef broth, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Pour into the skillet with the beef.
Step 5
Bring the sauce to a simmer, then stir in the cornstarch slurry. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
Step 6
Add the cooked and drained spaghetti to the skillet with the beef and sauce. Toss to coat everything evenly.
Step 7
Serve immediately, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.
Tips
- Add a handful of frozen peas or shredded carrots along with the sauce for extra veggies.
- For a spicier kick, add a dash of sriracha or red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- Any long pasta like linguine, fettuccine, or even ramen noodles (without the seasoning packet) would work great here.
