Ingredients
Yield: 4 servings
Main
- 8 oz egg noodles (or ramen noodles, instant ramen seasoning discarded)
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 4 cups shredded green cabbage
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Green onions, sliced, for garnish (optional)
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
- Red pepper flakes, for garnish (optional)
Preparation
Step 1
Cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
Step 2
While noodles cook, heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add ground pork and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain off any excess grease and transfer pork to a plate.
Step 3
Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and grated ginger and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
Step 4
Add shredded cabbage to the skillet and cook, stirring frequently, until it begins to soften, about 5-7 minutes.
Step 5
In a small bowl, whisk together chicken broth, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Pour the sauce over the cabbage in the skillet.
Step 6
Add the cooked pork and drained noodles to the skillet. Toss everything together until well combined and the noodles are coated in the sauce. Cook for 2-3 minutes to heat through.
Step 7
Serve immediately, garnished with sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and red pepper flakes, if desired.
Tips
- Feel free to add other quick-cooking veggies like shredded carrots or bell pepper strips with the cabbage.
- For a spicier kick, add a dash of sriracha to the sauce.
