Sheet Pan Sausage and Broccoli

When dinner needs to be on the table fast and cleanup needs to be even faster, this Sheet Pan Sausage and Broccoli is your mealtime hero! With minimal prep and just one pan to wash, you'll have a wholesome and satisfying dinner with savory sausage and perfectly tender-crisp broccoli. It's a true weeknight winner!

Ingredients

Yield: 4 servings

Main

  • 1 lb smoked sausage (kielbasa, Italian sausage, or chicken sausage), sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
  • 1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets
  • 1 red onion, cut into 1/2-inch wedges
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: red pepper flakes, for a little kick

Preparation

  1. Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

  2. Step 2

In a large bowl, combine the sliced sausage, broccoli florets, and red onion wedges. Drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper (and red pepper flakes, if using). Toss everything together until well coated.

  3. Step 3

Spread the mixture in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Ensure there's enough space for everything to roast evenly without overcrowding.

  4. Step 4

Roast for 20-25 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender-crisp and slightly charred, and the sausage is heated through and lightly browned. Give the pan a gentle shake or stir halfway through cooking for even browning.

  5. Step 5

Remove from the oven and serve immediately. This is great on its own, with rice, or a side of crusty bread.

Tips

  • Use pre-cut broccoli florets to save even more time.
  • For extra flavor, squeeze some fresh lemon juice over the roasted vegetables before serving.
  • If you like things spicy, add an extra pinch of red pepper flakes or serve with a side of hot sauce.
  • Don't be afraid to add other quick-cooking vegetables like bell peppers or zucchini to the mix.
