When you're craving something warm, comforting, and packed with flavor but don't have hours to spend in the kitchen, these Saucy Pork and Cabbage Noodles are your new best friend! This dish comes together in a flash, offering a delightful mix of savory pork, tender cabbage, and slurpable noodles, all coated in an irresistible sauce.
Ingredients
Yield: 4 servings
Main
- 8 oz ramen noodles (discard seasoning packets) or lo mein noodles
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 lb ground pork
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 4 cups shredded green cabbage
- 2 green onions, sliced (white and green parts separated)
For the Sauce
- ¼ cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- ¼ cup water
Preparation
Step 1
Cook noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
Step 2
While noodles cook, prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, cornstarch, and water until smooth. Set aside.
Step 3
Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add ground pork and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain off any excess fat.
Step 4
Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and the white parts of the sliced green onions to the skillet. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Step 5
Add the shredded cabbage to the skillet. Cook, stirring frequently, for 3-5 minutes, until the cabbage is tender-crisp.
Step 6
Give the prepared sauce a quick whisk, then pour it into the skillet with the pork and cabbage. Bring to a simmer, stirring, until the sauce thickens slightly, about 1-2 minutes.
Step 7
Add the cooked noodles to the skillet. Toss everything together until the noodles are well coated in the sauce. Cook for 1-2 minutes more to heat through.
Step 8
Serve hot, garnished with the green parts of the sliced green onions.
Tips
- For a spicier kick, add a dash of sriracha or red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- Any thin noodle will work here, such as linguine or even spaghetti broken into shorter pieces.
- Feel free to add other quick-cooking vegetables like shredded carrots or bell pepper strips with the cabbage.
