Ingredients
Yield: 4 servings
Main
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Honey Garlic Sauce
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp grated fresh ginger (optional)
For Garnish (optional)
- Sesame seeds
- Chopped green onions
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line with parchment paper.
Step 2
Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
Step 3
In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger (if using) to create the honey garlic sauce.
Step 4
Place chicken thighs in the prepared baking dish. Pour about half of the honey garlic sauce over the chicken, turning to coat. Reserve the remaining sauce for basting.
Step 5
Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven, generously baste the chicken with half of the reserved sauce, then return to the oven and bake for another 10-15 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through (internal temperature 165°F / 74°C) and the sauce is caramelized and sticky. For extra caramelization, you can broil for the last 1-2 minutes (watch carefully to prevent burning).
Step 6
Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
Tips
- For easy cleanup, line your baking dish with foil before parchment paper.
- This sauce is also fantastic with chicken drumsticks, wings, or even pork tenderloin.
- Serve with steamed rice and roasted broccoli or green beans to soak up all that delicious sauce.
