Ingredients

Yield: 4 servings

Main

  • 1 lb Italian sausage (sweet or hot), casings removed if desired
  • 1.5 lbs broccoli florets, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)

Preparation

  1. Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

  2. Step 2

If using bulk sausage, break it into bite-sized pieces. If using links, slice them into 1-inch thick rounds. Distribute the sausage evenly over the prepared baking sheet.

  3. Step 3

In a large bowl, toss the broccoli florets with olive oil, garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) until well coated.

  4. Step 4

Add the seasoned broccoli to the baking sheet alongside the sausage, ensuring everything is in a single layer and not overcrowded.

  5. Step 5

Bake for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the sausage is cooked through and browned, and the broccoli is tender-crisp with slightly charred edges.

  6. Step 6

Remove from oven and serve immediately. A sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese is a delicious addition!

Tips

  • For even cooking, cut your broccoli florets into similar-sized pieces.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan! If your baking sheet is too small, use two or cook in batches.
  • Feel free to add other quick-cooking vegetables like bell peppers or cherry tomatoes during the last 10-15 minutes of baking.
