Golden Fish Stick and Slaw Tacos

Who said fish tacos have to be fancy? These golden fish stick tacos are a fun, family-friendly, and incredibly easy way to get dinner on the table fast! With crispy fish sticks, a quick crunchy slaw, and a zesty crema, they're bursting with flavor and zero fuss.

Ingredients

Yield: 4 servings

For the Slaw

  • 3 cups pre-shredded coleslaw mix
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp honey or agave nectar
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For the Crema

  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • Pinch of chili powder or smoked paprika
  • Salt to taste

For the Tacos

  • 12-16 frozen fish sticks (check package for serving size)
  • 8-12 small flour or corn tortillas
  • Optional toppings: chopped cilantro, hot sauce, extra lime wedges

Preparation

  1. Step 1

Preheat oven and cook fish sticks according to package directions until golden brown and crispy.

  2. Step 2

While fish sticks cook, prepare the slaw: In a medium bowl, combine coleslaw mix, mayonnaise, 1 tbsp lime juice, honey, salt, and pepper. Toss until well combined. Set aside.

  3. Step 3

Prepare the crema: In a small bowl, whisk together sour cream (or Greek yogurt), 1 tbsp lime juice, chili powder, and salt until smooth. Set aside.

  4. Step 4

Warm tortillas according to package directions (microwave, dry skillet, or oven).

  5. Step 5

Assemble tacos: Place 2-3 crispy fish sticks in each warm tortilla. Top with a generous spoonful of the coleslaw, a drizzle of the zesty crema, and any optional toppings like cilantro or hot sauce. Serve immediately with extra lime wedges.

Tips

  • For extra crispy fish sticks, ensure they are in a single layer and not overcrowded on the baking sheet.
  • Feel free to customize the slaw with finely diced red onion or jalapeño for more kick.
  • If you prefer corn tortillas, lightly char them over an open flame for a smoky flavor.
