Ingredients
Yield: 4 servings
Main
- 1 box (about 10-12 oz) frozen fish sticks
- 1 bag (about 20 oz) frozen shoestring or crinkle-cut French fries
- 8 small flour or corn tortillas
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Lime wedges, for serving
For the Zesty Slaw
- 2 cups pre-shredded coleslaw mix
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh cilantro
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Optional Toppings
- Hot sauce
- Diced avocado
- Pico de gallo
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange fish sticks and French fries in a single layer on separate baking sheets (or one very large one if there's enough space). Drizzle fries with olive oil if desired. Bake according to package directions, typically 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and crispy.
Step 2
While fish and fries are baking, prepare the zesty slaw: In a medium bowl, combine coleslaw mix, mayonnaise, lime juice, cilantro, and sugar. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir well to combine.
Step 3
Warm the tortillas: You can do this by wrapping them in foil and heating in the oven for 5 minutes, or in a dry skillet over medium heat for 30 seconds per side, or briefly in the microwave. Keep warm.
Step 4
Once fish sticks and fries are cooked and crispy, assemble your tacos! Place a few fish sticks and a small handful of fries into each warm tortilla. Top with a spoonful of the zesty slaw and any other desired toppings.
Step 5
Serve immediately with fresh lime wedges for squeezing.
Tips
- For extra crispy fries and fish, consider using an air fryer if you have one.
- Don't skip the lime juice in the slaw – it brightens up all the flavors!
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce to your slaw.
