Garlic Parmesan Broccoli Stir-Fry

Looking for a side dish that's anything but boring? This Garlic Parmesan Broccoli Stir-Fry is about to become your new go-to! It's incredibly quick, packed with savory garlic and salty Parmesan goodness, and turns humble broccoli into a crave-worthy complement for any main course. Say goodbye to plain steamed veggies!

Ingredients

Yield: 4 servings

Main

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 ½ lbs fresh broccoli florets, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup water or vegetable broth
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Red pepper flakes (optional, for a kick)

Preparation

  1. Step 1

Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  2. Step 2

Add broccoli florets to the hot skillet. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and slightly tender-crisp. You want some nice browned edges!

  3. Step 3

Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) to the skillet. Stir-fry for another 1 minute until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

  4. Step 4

Pour in the water or vegetable broth. Cover the skillet with a lid and steam the broccoli for 2-3 minutes, or until it reaches your desired tenderness. The liquid will help create steam and finish cooking the broccoli.

  5. Step 5

Remove the lid. Most of the liquid should be evaporated. If not, cook for another minute uncovered. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and coating the broccoli.

  6. Step 6

Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Serve immediately.

Tips

  • For even cooking, try to cut broccoli florets into similar sizes.
  • If you don't have fresh garlic, ½ teaspoon of garlic powder can be used.
  • Don't overcook the broccoli; it should still have a slight bite (al dente).
